CHLOE JAZZY LAU
Founder
Chloe Jazzy Lau founded You Matter by CJ (originally YouMatter Organization) in 2019 at age 16, forever changed by her 2018 volunteer trip to Thomas House in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Witnessing the joy and hidden potential of children with autism, Down syndrome, and other special educational needs ignited her mission: no child should feel unseen or forgotten.
While excelling academically at ESF South Island School earning top IB and SAT grades, the ESF Chairman's Award for Excellence, and serving as Head Girl, Chloe masterfully balanced her studies with leading the NGO.
She launched the YouMatter Campaign, receiving monetary donations from corporates to purchase supplies for the kits as well as space granted by WeWork, where she and her schoolmates packed more than 200 health and educational kits filled with books, stationery, art supplies, and sanitizers, and delivered these care packages across Hong Kong districts during the COVID-19 pandemic, coordinating closely with social workers to reach underprivileged families and those with special educational needs (SEN).
Extending her reach, Chloe launched YouMatter Charity Week at South Island School, raising HK$10,000 through workshops, peer mentoring, and fundraising. She also organized a return trip to Chiang Mai with two schoolmates, donated the raised funds, and brought laptops to teach English and basic coding—watching the children create their first games was a moment of pure joy.
Her journey proves that one young heart can spark a revolution of kindness, transforming both giver and receiver.
